© 2013 Drake Smith - Please do not use or reproduce this elsewhere. Feel free to link to it though. System (Integral) Case Latches "Flat" Latches: Gen I cases have "flat" latches. These were used up to a manufacture date of February 1988.
They have keys similar to the keys used in old Samsonite luggage. Each set of flat locks has a three digit code stamped into the side of the lock and also the associated key.
The flat case closure latches attach to a piece on the other side of the luggage. It is not the same as the one used for the later "round" latches.

"Round" Latches: Gen II and Gen III cases have "round" latches. These were used after a manufacture date of February 1988.
Round locks use the same key style as the ignition, gas cap and other K bike locks. The piece that the round closure locks attach to:
