Uninstall K Bike Alarm System

Disclaimer 1: There may have been more than one alarm system used over the lifespan of Classic Ks but I've successfully uninstalled one and all should have similar wiring. Hopefully you find this page useful.

Disclaimer 2: When working on K bike electrics, it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery ground(s) first in order to avoid inadvertent shorts that can damage the electrical system.

Location:

Most alarms I've seen are a black box located in the tail cowl but it may be under the rider seat.

Wiring:

Typical wiring diagram:

Notes:

Pin Wire Color Comments
1 RED Fused 12V+ to battery. Disconnect.
2 WHT Not used
3 BRN Ground to battery. Disconnect.
4 GRN Illuminates green LED in dash pad.  Disconnect.
5   Not used
6 GRN/GRA Activates horn relay via the 4 lead white nylon alarm connector in the relay box under tank. Unplug this connector.
7 BLU/BLK (Right) These flash the right and left turn signals. Follow these and disconnect them where they tap into the turn signal wiring.
8 BLU/RED (Left)
9 GRN/YEL Switched power that typically taps into a GRN/BLK wire. Disconnect it where it taps into a GRN/BLK wire.
11 RED 12V+ for horn circuit.  Disconnect.
10 BRN/RED These two wires complete the ground circuit for the starter relay which allows the alarm system to disable the starter when armed. Cut these two wires and connect them to each other to complete the ground circuit to the starter relay.
12 BRN/RED
